Why You Should NOT Let Your Vamp Bite You

Postby Giselle47 » Tue Nov 11, 2008 2:35 pm

By providing the following information, I want to help vampires and donors to understand why it is NOT a good thing to bite. Love nips is not what I am talking about here. It is the breaking of the skin to get a donation.

10-15% of human bites become infected. Most of the time, the person with the bite delays getting medical attention because of the anaerobes germs. Anaerobes germs are germs that grow in an area where there isn't oxygen. When you bite someone hard enough to break the skin you push the germs in your spit, down into the skin where oxygen cannot reach. Spit (saliva) contians 100,000,000 germs per ml, representing over 190 different types: hepatits B, hepatits C, herpes virus, syphilis, tuberculosis, and tetanus to name a few. HIV also can be transfered this way, but it is extremely rare.

Most bites can be treated with an antibiotics taken at home, but a few are so infected that you must be admitted to a hospital for IV antidiotics. You may also have to have the bite debride. Which means cutting the dead, rottening skin away from the healthy tissuse.

So PLEASE reframe from letting your vamp bite you so hard it breaks the skin. If the vamp insits, you be the bigger person and keep yourself from harm. Learn the signs of infection and seek medical help imedately. Trust me we have heard it all and seen it all. We are just interested in getting you better.

Sound advice.

Unfortunately history shows that education programs work better than abstinance programs in any harm prevention scheme (Safe sex Vs Abstinance workshops being a prime example). Why not add a section: "If you ARE going to engage in using biting as a bloodletting technique, here's what you should do."
Just a suggestion.

It would be important to take care of such a wound immediately.
Wash with soap and water, douse it in hydrogen peroxide, and slather on some antibiotic ointment with a bandage, and keep a very close eye on it--any sign of infection, see a doc.

Of course it's not safe, but people are still going to do unsafe things, so there you go.

Hydrogen peroxide is painless and bubbly. Alcohol burns like 9 hells, and so does iodine. lol

Hmm... I'm surprised I never posted on this subject. I meant to.

I'd like to see a show of hands... How many of you would let your vamp bite you to the point of breaking your skin to feed if their teeth were sharp enough?

I'll start. *raises hand* I would do it in a split second. No question.

IF it was like Hollywood with no germs in their mouth and his teeth where something to the effect of a hypo syring, then I would. I would still have to have somewhere hidden because of work. In the real word Scion, it is just to dangerous, because of the chance of infection and nerve damage with fangs, real or manufactored,

i not only would let a vamp bite to the blood, i have done so, and would gladly do so again. i have several pearly white scars where my vamp at the time not only bit, but tore out bits of my skin. i cherish them deeply.

though it is important to note that this changes the relationship. donating is an intimate but non-sexual experience. biting adds an immensely sexual element to it, and i would not allow or invite a vamp to bite me with whom i hadn't discussed this beforehand.

Oh, heck no. I had a vamp bite me and break skin when I was a teen, and it hurt like having a burning hot poker touched to my wrist. I am not sure why I let him do it in the first place, nor did I complain about it later, though he didn't actually ask beforehand. It did not, however, bleed at all. lol...

No thanks, that is just a pain overload, and I am definitely no fan at all of pain.
